This group covers main and connecting rod shells, camshaft bearings, thrust washers, small-end and rocker bushings, and rolling element bearings in pumps, alternators and fan drives. Perkins supplies main and rod bearings in standard and undersize grades for reground crankshafts. Generating set duty at steady prime load is generally kinder to plain bearings than variable machine duty, but extended light-load running brings its own problems through incomplete combustion and oil dilution.
