Gas engines burn natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, sewage gas or mine gas rather than diesel, and use a set of components that has no equivalent in a diesel engine. This group covers gas mixers and carburettors, gas regulators and trains, throttle and wastegate actuators, ignition coils and leads, spark plugs including pre-chamber types, ignition control modules, knock sensors, and lambda and gas quality sensors. Pre-chamber spark plugs on models such as the TCG 2032 ignite a small rich mixture that in turn ignites the main lean charge, allowing the engine to run leaner and more efficiently than a conventional spark arrangement would permit. These components are consumables with defined replacement intervals driven by operating hours and gas quality.
