MWM Cooling System Parts

The cooling system removes surplus heat and holds the engine within a controlled temperature band, protecting it from the rapid damage that overheating causes. This group covers radiators, heat exchangers and cores, water pumps, thermostats and housings, mixture coolers, fans and drives, hoses and clamps, and temperature sensors. Cooling on a CHP installation serves a different purpose from cooling on a conventional engine: recovered heat is the product, delivered to a heating circuit or process rather than dumped to atmosphere. The engine runs with a deliberately controlled jacket water temperature, and cooling faults therefore affect heat output and plant efficiency as well as engine protection.

AMS Parts supplies a wide range of cooling system components for MWM engines used in power generation, marine, and industrial applications. Browse the full range below, or contact us for specific requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is cooling different on a CHP installation?

Recovered heat is a saleable output rather than waste. The jacket water circuit feeds a heating or process load, so cooling faults reduce plant revenue as well as risking the engine.

What is a mixture cooler?

It cools the air and gas mixture after compression, before it enters the cylinder. Lower mixture temperature reduces the risk of knock and allows higher output.

How often should coolant be replaced?

At the interval MWM specifies for the coolant in use, with condition testing between changes. Degraded coolant loses corrosion protection before it looks unfit.
