This group covers main and connecting rod shells, camshaft bearings, thrust washers, small-end and rocker bushings, and rolling element bearings in pumps and ancillaries. Continuous-duty gas engines depend on oil condition more than almost any other factor, and gas quality feeds directly into that: biogas and landfill gas carry hydrogen sulphide and siloxanes that degrade lubricating oil far faster than pipeline natural gas. Oil analysis at scheduled intervals is the standard method of tracking both oil condition and developing bearing wear on these installations.
