Not every engine component belongs to a major assembly, and this group gathers the parts that sit outside them — the castings, covers and hardware that turn a set of assemblies into a running engine. This group covers cylinder blocks and bare castings, sumps and oil pans, timing covers, breathers, dipsticks and tubes, plugs and adaptors, and the miscellaneous hardware needed during overhaul. CAT part numbering is distinctive: numbers are conventionally written with a hyphen (100-4948) and descriptions use shorthand suffixes such as GP for a group and AS for an assembly. Because CAT revises components across engine build variants and arrangements, the engine serial number is the reliable route to the correct part rather than the model designation alone.
AMS Parts supplies a wide range of general engine parts components for CAT engines used in power generation, marine, and industrial applications. Browse the full range below, or contact us for specific requirements.
GP stands for Group. A group is supplied as a kit of components rather than a single item, so a Pump GP contains more than a bare pump. AS or A indicates an Assembly.
Both forms refer to the same part. CAT convention writes them hyphenated (100-4948), but supplier systems often strip the hyphen. Either form can be quoted.
The engine serial number and arrangement number identify the exact build. CAT engines of the same model can carry different components depending on application and build date.
